Papa's Farm

My dad took over running my grandpa's farm when he passed away so we have started to go down and help out a little more. I think he enjoys doing it, it is a good outing for him. They have 4 baby calves and he needed to go and try to catch three of them to give them shots and tag them. Wytten and I were at the house so we rode to the farm with them; he caught one of them put it in the back of the truck so Wytten could pet it, he loved it and loved seeing all the cows. We couldn't catch the other two, their moms were being stubborn and wouldn't let my dad get close to them, so he decided he would try again another day. My dad started bringing home the bags of flour from work that they couldn't sale for one reason or another, and feeding it to the cows. They all know when this happens cause they start waddling/heading over to the feeder where he puts it. They gobble that up and make a mess while doing it. I couldn't resist not taking a picture of them eating it.

Day At The Races

I always loved going to the chariot races down in ogden when I was younger; we would go down and camp in the parking lot and play til our parents told us we had to go to bed. We don't go down as much anymore cause our lives are so crazy, but we did go down for the day a couple weeks ago. Wytten loved seeing the horses and being able to watch them run fast. Hopefully next year we can make it down a couple more times than last year.

A Day On Grandpa's Farm

Last week we decided we wanted to go have a picnic up to Grandpa Farrel's farm. That morning I had to run to logan to get some things so Ike headed up there and starting trimming some of the trees and raking up weeks and debris that needed to be cleaned up. We got all the trees trimmed they look much better now and got the little area over by the corral cleaned up and put in piles (we forgot a wheel barrow so have to go back up and haul it over to the burn pile). The area over by the corral we want to level out, put in some more grass and make it a little picnic area we can go to. Wytten absolutely loved it up there, he just wandered around playing in the gravel, helping rake, feeding the horses, and trying to climb in with the horses. He was having so much fun he didn't want to leave to go home. There is still a lot more work we need to do up there, but it is coming along. We hope to be able to build a house out on the point of the field (picture below) within the next 5 years or so. Ike has always wanted to build up there and his grandpa told him he could have some land for all the of the work he has done for his grandpa while growing up. We have starting doing some little things up there and are going to continue to do other things to start getting it ready for us to build. But for now we will stay in our house and enjoy what we have done so far and continue to finish the basement and yard and enjoy that for the time being. :)

He loved the horses
